Hello!

I’m Lyza Fennell

I’m a writer, playwright, and visual artist whose work explores identity, desire, family, vulnerability, reinvention, and the absurdity tucked inside difficult moments. I write across memoir, fiction, and drama, with a voice that blends emotional intensity, visual detail, and dark humor.

My work often explores the spaces where expectations fall apart: relationships, bodies, families, identities, and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are supposed to become.

I’m a Smith College graduate and the founder of M/others Institute for Collaboration and Art (MICA), an organization created to support artist m/others. ALS has meant stepping away from that work, but I remain deeply proud of what MICA accomplished and invite you to explore the organization’s projects and history.

My background also includes entrepreneurship and creative operations, and I’m drawn to both the imaginative and structural sides of making things.

I live in Massachusetts, write, make art, listen to too much music, and usually find something funny in situations that probably weren’t designed to be funny.
